Troubleshooting:Backup Error code 0x8100002F Error

Backup Error code 0x8100002F

Greetings,

Several weeks ago I deleted one folder in my downloads folder.
Now, every time I run backup, it finishes with error code 0x8100002F.
It says "The backup completed but some files were skipped".
If I click View skipped files, it shows me the folder that
I deleted :

Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Users\Ghalib\Downloads\The Roommate.
Error:(The system cannot find the file specified.
(0x80070002))

What happens if I have to delete a folder in the future? Will Backup generate more error messages?

I've read Knowledge Base article 979281, but I haven't created any custom Libraries, so I don't think the article applies to me.

Thanks,
Ghalib.

Hi,

This issue occurs if the following conditions are true:
·  Windows Backup tries to back up files in the LocalLow, Contacts, and Searches folders.
·  These folders are not present on your computer.
Note: These folders are created only if certain applications are installed on the computer.
Check to see if the following helps.

a.
Click on "Change backup settings" from troubleshoot dialog
b. Expand the user node whose libraries are being reported as skipped.
c.
Deselect the library that is causing the issue.
d. Expand the "Computer" node in the tree view and select the redirected location of the folders (if any).
e. Save settings.

You may also refer to the article and follow the section mentioned under Scenario 2 – Cause and Resolution.
Error code 0x8100002F and or error code 0x80070002 when you back up files in Windows 7:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979281

I would also recommend that you should not delete any system folders in future.
If you delete system files, it will create more error codes and may cause improper functioning of Windows.

Hope this helps!

Don't Download Malware

Where are you getting the download?

There are malicious people who download valid copies of a popular download, modify the file with malicious software, and then upload the file with the same name. Make sure you are downloading from the developer's web page or a reputable company.

Don't install download manager

Many sites suggest or require you to install an installer or a download manager before allowing you to download a program you may be interested in downloading. These tools almost always cause your computer more problems and may even have malware or other spyware. Avoid any site claiming anything must be installed first before you can continue with your download.

Avoid advertisements on download pages

To help make money and pay for the bandwidth costs of supplying free the software, the final download page may have ads. Watch out for anything that looks like advertisements on the download page. Many advertisers try to trick viewers into clicking an ad with phrases like "Download Now", "Start Download", or "Continue" and that ad may open a separate download.

Cancel or deny any automatic download

Some sites may automatically try start a download or give the appearance that something needs to be installed or updated before the site or video can be seen. Never accept or install anything from any site unless you know what is downloading.
